Laminar Air flow (LAF)

Laminar Air flow (LAF) is an important Instrument for Biotechnology, Pathology, and many Biology based laboratory. For a normal biology laboratory or in a pathology laboratory in a rural area, it is sometimes difficult to buy the instrument due to its cost. The design of the present Portable Table-top Laminar Air Flow Machine represents the idea of a low-cost handy Laminar Air Flow. It contains two compartments, small air circulating chamber and large, working area. The air circulation is maintained in the smaller sub chamber containing air-pressure creating DC high-speed Fan, dust protecting micro-filter, and HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter. The large chamber contains working stage, transparent outer door, UV light, and LED tight. The air coming through the dust-protecting micro-filter and then through DC fans create air pressure that releases through HEPA filter uniformly into the working compartment by horizontal air pressure from back to front. This air pressure can be monitored by the manometer placed outside the chamber.



The dimension of the present designed machine is 24 x 28 x28 inch (L x W x H) with a working compartment dimension of 24 X 19 X 23 inch (L x W x H). The weight of the present designed machine is approximately 12 Kg. These dimensions are dynamic on the need basis of the user. The electric consumption of the machine is 154 watts during the 100% working condition.

The efficacy of the present designed machine has been confirmed through flame tests and media contamination tests.
